The permanent collection

Twenty-six masterpieces. One sitter.

Hung salon-style, the way the Paris Salon did it in 1850: frame to frame, every era on one wall. Select any painting for its wall label and audio guide.

A note on attribution

Is this really a Vermeer?

No. Every work in the collection is a contemporary homage, painted after a famous original.

The titles, compositions and art-historical notes refer to the real masterpieces, which hang in real museums: the Mauritshuis in The Hague, the Louvre, the Uffizi, MoMA and others. We recommend visiting them. Tofu cannot come with you; most of them do not allow dogs.

Each painting hangs in the kind of frame its period would have used: a ripple-moulded ebony frame for the Vermeer, Klimt's own flat gilt, a bare stretched canvas for Pollock. Wall labels are accurate about the originals and less accurate about Tofu's inner life.
